RESERVED. A pair of mid-19th-century elbow chairs in the Carolean manner. The rectangular backs and seats are upholstered in red needlepoint tapestry fabric. The barley twist arms, joined by beautifully carved arm supports, depict Viking style male and female busts. The arms supports are raised on turned and block front legs, united by barley twist stretchers. The quality of the carvings is exceptional with a beautiful rich patina on the wood.
Condition: The fabric is faded and one seat has a white mark on it. A few brass studs are missing and the fabric on the back of the chairs has come away in some places.
