This is an exceptional 19th-century French walnut with string inlay chest. This very unusual chest has a domed top and is bombe shaped to the sides which creates an unbelievable stylish shape to the piece of furniture. I believe that the chest might have been used as a travelling chest and is studded on the edges of both sides with brass studs for protection when moved around or from place to place. This very unusual chest open to the side due to its lovely bombe shape. This is the first time I've seen a chest like this and can't find any other similar example. Not original handles
